Price-time vectors

A swing moves in price and in time, so its true size is the diagonal of the box it spans, not just the points it travelled. Geometriya measures swings that way and shows where the next swing would be as long as the last.

Measuring a swing

Price and time are put in the same unit by Mitotic Scaling, which tells the chart how much price equals one bar. A swing’s length is then the diagonal: the square root of bars squared plus price-in-bars squared. On a scale of 10, a swing of 3 bars and 40 points measures 5.

Markets often make the next swing the same length as the one before, or a golden ratio of it. Because an early, deep move and a late, shallow move can be the same length, the targets are arcs, not points: every point on the arc completes the swing.

Using price-time vectors

  1. 1Open Overlays → Angles → Price-Time Vector and choose which arcs to draw — 0.618, 1 and 1.618 × by default.
  2. 2Click the start and end of a swing, or press ⚡ to use the last two confirmed swing pivots; ◀ steps back a swing at a time.
  3. 3Each arc is labelled with its 45° point — a price and a number of bars. A ✓ marks an arc price has already reached. ⚡ also labels the recent swings with their lengths and each one’s ratio to the one before.

The Price-Time Vector Scanner

The 🔍 on the Price-Time Vector row scans a list for scrips whose new swing has reached 0.618, 1 or 1.618 times the length of the swing before it, measured on each scrip’s own scale. Click a result to open its chart with the vector drawn.

Questions

Why does the length depend on the scale?

Adding price and time together needs to know how much price equals one bar. Geometriya uses the chart’s own Mitotic Scaling, so the geometry matches what you see.

Why arcs instead of a single target?

The same length can be reached quickly with a big move or slowly with a small one. The arc shows every combination of price and time that completes the swing.
